Local bassist makes good. Mystic-bred musician David Bentley returns to southeastern Connecticut this weekend with his NYC-based band Morgan Avenue. (Bentley, you might recall, co-founded the Connecticut band 17 Relics in the 1990s.) Morgan Avenue describes itself as “an original modern classic rock band,” which translates to new stuff that sounds like good-ol' rock-and-roll.

Also this weekend, Degoleg plays not one but two different shows — both on the same night. First up is a gig at the artists' reception from 8-10 p.m. at the Hygienic Galleries. Then, the band heads over to Station 58, where they're one of three ensembles on the bill, with Ladies and Gentlemen and Ringers rounding out the line-up.

Morgan Avenue plays Friday at Station 58, 58 Brainard St., New London. Call 443-5858.

Degoleg plays from 8-10 p.m. Saturday at the Hygienic Galleries, Bank Street, New London; there is no cover. The band also plays in a three-band show at 10 p.m. at Station 58, 58 Brainard St., New London. Cover is $5. Call 443-5858.
